Old wood, salvaged and put back to work.
A Federal house kept plain where it wants to be plain. Wide pine boards run through the rooms, the entrance hall is painted in diamonds under its arch, and a brick chimney stands open in the kitchen with a candle chandelier hung from the ridge beam.
The bath is built out of salvage: a trough basin set in old timber, a sawhorse for towels, a ledge of sea glass along the beadboard, and a hand painted street sign left exactly where it was found.
