Two rooms, plum against green.

The house keeps its 1925 bones: a carved limestone chimneypiece, leaded casements in pairs, plaster walls that take the firelight. Against them the seating is deep plum velvet and the carpet a scrolling green and cream.

In the bay a pale green settee sits beneath a stained glass crest, with nesting tables, a carved Chinese stand and an orchid. The patterned ottoman picks up the carpet rather than the sofas.

The living room, looking to the chimneypiece. The plum velvet is the only strong colour in the room; everything else is plaster, stone and the green of the carpet.
