Colour where you cook, quiet where you wash.

The kitchen takes the roof with it. Skylights run up the vault, the gable wall is painted deep red against ochre beyond, and the work surfaces are honed black. White shaker fronts carry red pulls, glass upper doors show red glass and coloured china, and the island holds a gas top with a red casserole standing on it. Doors give straight out to the terrace and the planting behind.

The bath answers in the opposite key: white veined marble laid in large tiles, a basketweave mosaic floor, a glass shower with a square rain head and brushed square controls, twin basins in a marble slab, and a skylight over the mirror wall. The only colour is a jug of sunflowers and purple stock.
