Nothing in the room competes with the pictures, which is the whole arrangement.
The loft keeps its factory windows and its dark plank floor, and the furniture is held to greys and browns: a long tufted sofa in flannel, a pair of ebonised chairs in fine stripe, a chrome and glass table wide enough to be a surface rather than a piece. Curtains are sheer and full height so the light comes in without a view to manage. Lampshades are oversized and square, set high, which is what keeps a tall room from reading as a corridor.
Against that restraint, colour arrives framed. A green and blue abstract hangs over an Art Deco rosewood sideboard at the dining end, where lucite chairs and a cast glass box sit at a glass table. Bedrooms follow the same logic more quietly, striped linen and a blue bordered sham against a dark suede headboard, a marble topped iron table holding an orchid and three sea urchins. Warmth is rationed and placed, never spread.

The one loud thing in the apartment, hung low enough to belong to the sideboard
Rosewood and chrome, kept as a bar, glasses left out rather than shut away
